This is video that my friend, missionary pastor to the Inupiat? people of Alaska, took.
These people survive on subsistence hunting and whale is a big part of their diet.

The video got 120k views on Facebook and the stupid liberal (and tons of "Im a hunter, but this is wrong") comments were astounding.

He received over 20 death threats just for BEING THERE from the loving liberals.

Anyway, the bear was taken with a 30-30 after multiple warning shots. Please notice the hunter waited for the bear to shake off the water before he took the shot. Polar bear hide when wet is almost bulletpoof (the military is actually researching this for better armor)

Astonishingly, all the natives I speak with on Facebook overwhelmingly choose .223 Remington for ALL ALASKAN GAME with .243 a close second. While we here in the lower 48 argue over magnum cartridges!

a guide in Alaska will not even take you on a bear hunt if you show up with a .223 or .243... just saying...

I totally believe that.

What I said about .223 and .243 is straight from the men you see there on that ice.
I assume that mostly what they are talking about is Caribou and seals/sea lions.

A big part of it of course is cost. Those are some poor folks.

Interesting video. Only other thing they could have done would be to try something less than lethal (the bear was definitely within range of bear spray when they whacked it), but you really have to be pretty fanatical to find fault with a native people who have lived there for hundreds of years legally harvesting an animal that was a potential threat.
