A guy by the name name of "Tommy" called called me and was interested in a sig I had for sale. He had very strange questions like "is the gun registered to me" could I buy ammo for him before we meet up. Was going to meet him in stafford, after telling him i would come and told him i needed to see a va ID and voter registration card or concealed carry permit and do a bill of sale for my records he asked if I would ship it to him. Very strange considering I offered to drive it to him and he is only 45 minutes away. I told him sure because he offered to pay, I also informed him I would need to ship it to an FFL, no response. This guy appeared to be trying to advantage of this website. Everyone please beware of this guy his phone number was 813-638-5801.

Yeah you gotta be careful around those guys named Tommy. Sounds like you did the right thing , when in doubt don't sell.

I would say this makes a good reason to not include your phone number or email in your post. That would force an interested party to contact you by pm through this site, then we would know who the member was... or if he even is a member. Keep in mind that posts can be viewed without logging in.

I hope he doesn't have a profile on this site, also a question I asked him that he avoided. My fault for seeing so many red flags and not shutting him down sooner. It was almost comical to see what he would ask/request next. I have had similiar encounters on armslist but never on this site. I hope he learned his lesson about trying to purchase guns illegally off our site.

I sure wish folks on this forum would understand that a person convicted of a felony in Virginia, not federal felony like Martha Stewart or Scooter Libby, can have their firearms rights restored by the circuit court of the county they live in. They can also get a concealed handgun permit too. A concealed handgun permit is not an indicator of anything. If a felon should not be able to purchase a firearm after they leave prison, paid their fines, and served their probation...why are they out of prison. Do some on this forum want to continue to punish them after they have done their time. Why not just go drag them out of their homes and beat the crap out of them for good measure...hey...and slap their kids around as well. Many folks on this forum have probably committed a felony unwittingly and some knowingly. In your youthful days did you ever pass the joint to someone else...felony...a little white lie on your income taxes...felony... Is a felon someone that commits a felonious act and never gets caught or is it only someone that gets convicted of committing a felonious act. Is bill clinton a rapist, is someone that steals from you a thief, is hillary a chronic liar, is OJ a murderer...none were ever convicted. Has anyone ever been in an argument with the wife and pushed her out of your way...guess what...domestic violence and a lifetime ban on possessing a firearm. If you really want to be careful of who you are selling too, ask for a credit report. You have no idea if you are selling to a gs15 federal employee or retired marine colonel that is about too loose his home because of bad financial decisions. He wants to buy your gun to kill his family and then himself...but he had good guy papers falling out of his pocket. It happens far to often! Be careful about judging too harshly...but be careful who you sell to. He might just be going to murder his family...hey but you saw his voter ID and CCW didn't you?

No I never met with him. I am all for second chances, everyone makes mistakes. I believe everyone, felon or not, should be able to protect themselves and their family with a firearm but this guy was trying to purchase a gun without showing any ID. He wanted me to mail it to him after I offered to drive it to him if he would show me IDs, and do a bill of sale for my records only. Very sketchy guy all around from start to finish.
