Had a great weekend hunting out west with my brother and dad. My brother had put in time scouting, and had 5 favorites he wanted to show us. We found each on Friday, with Dad and I deciding on which we wanted to go for the next day when season opened.

First thing Saturday morning Dad was looking for the weird horned antelope he liked. It was hanging out on public land, and 6 other guys were there looking for him. After glassing, we realized he wasn't there so went to an adjoining hayfield on private property we had access to, as he'd been there during summer. We soon located him, and after sneaking along a row of willows and an irrigation ditch, were within 200 yards. The 6.5 Creedmore did the job and it was picture time.

After pictures and gutting antelope, we set off back to public land we had seen "prongs" on. We thought he had ~7" prongs which was why I wanted him. We found him with 5 does about half mile away. With his attention on the does, my brother and I snuck in to 125 yards. My pre64 Win in 270 hammered the antelope and it dropped where it stood. After pics and gutting, we measured the prongs, one was 6 6/8 and one 6 7/8. So not quite the 7" we hoped for. But buck still green scored just more than 82". My biggest buck yet, and hopefully after drying will be all timer in Boone and Crocket.

Always glad to get chance to hunt with family, and am excited for VA deer season to start.

Shoot straight everyone!!

Thanks man. I'm hopeful we can get one of the kids in our hunt club a deer next weekend. Love this time of year!
