Congrats other Chris! That's a nice buck, especially for opening day. I was on call this weekend, didn't get out till this morning but I did have some activity. I got to watch a few walk around and got a good shot at doe that was about 20 yards away. No fancy rack to look at, but the performance of the broadhead was impressive so I took some pics of that.

1st pic is the broadhead and the entry wound. It did not go all the way through, just the tip came out the other side. After removing the hide, the effect of the fully deployed blades(2.75")be seen, so that is the 2nd pic. 3rd pic is just another view of the exit.

It's the "hyper shock" 125grn from After Shock archery. Nasty business when it's applied correctly.

I have used the Rage 125grn in the past, still have a couple floating around. They work quite well also.

I really like the wide blades of the hyper shock though, and they open up after the broad head enters the body.

Stuck this 8 last week, I had about 12 doe under my stand when he came into the picture , couldn't get my bow raised up without one of the does snorting at me and that's when the woods got quiet and the buck stopped. He stopped right front leg back broadside, I stuck him right in front of the right shoulder in the sweet spot, and exit behind the left elbow with a 150grain 3" cut schwaker. Will make a good euro

I hit a monster in Georgia a week ago, hit him 15 min before dark and hunting alone. He had at least 6" brow tines. Had to start tracking 15 min after the shot and put pressure on him, by 30 min after dark the yotes had me surrounded and sounded within 35-50 yards out. I went back out the next morning and seen where he bedded down till the yotes pushed him more. Ran out of time,, I will look for him again soon,, dang yotes better leave the rack!

That is a pretty 8 James, and here's hoping you find the monster. I did a camo skull w/ a similar 8 a couple years ago.

Nice one Steve, good opening day for you. I was not so lucky, I did see a nice buck this afternoon but he was on his toes and busted me before I could get a shot. frown

It's looking a lot better than last year for sure. Last year I killed a total of 2 deer. We have a lack of acorns here this year so the deer are hitting my food plots hard. I killed 2 yesterday, a 3 point and a spiked. Got the spike in the morning and 3 point in the afternoon. 3 point dropped within 10 feet of where I shot the spike. Went to pull the trail cam from another plot, could have shot another buck but really didn't want to mess with it today. No big rack but meat in the freezer.

Hell yeah Snake, you can't eat them horns anyway. This morning was good for me, nailed a nice size doe pretty early. As you say, I christend my new CVA Wolf. What a hole it knocked through her, left a blood trail Ray Charles could follow, even though she only went 15-20 yards.

On a side note, what kind of dehydrator are you using for jerky? I need to get a new one and I do enjoy deer jerky.

Hopefully you didn't need ole Ray's help retrieving that doe!

I actually don't use dehydrator for the jerky. I make it all in oven now. Used to have dehydrator from Cabela's (4 tray) which I found works best with strips, whereas I liked chunk/nuggets better.

10 pounds marinating now, will make Tuesday or Wednesday night. 🙂

Had another good morning, this 7 point passed my way so I brought him home with me. Not a big rack but he weighed in at almost 120 pounds.

I like that camo job. I am having a skull done in a European mount on driftwood and I think I want that done to it also.

Good looking bucks this year traders
