I have an older Colt slide, that was given to me years ago. Has some holster wear, been used, but looks to be in really good usable shape, except rear battle sight is pretty dinged up. Anyway Colt blah blah Hartford Conn, USA on the one side. On the other supposed to be the part # or DWG. # However the part number doesn't match up to any part # I can find listed anywhere. The Number is "7790314" does anyone have a clue?

They both say the same thing. Sounds like the slide is a later replacement for the original 1911 government contract guns.
