Hello all,

I have been trying to get into reloading 5.56 and 9mm. Though..I am not sure exactly where to start. I have gotten some basic equipment, for example, Lee Single Stage Press, a brass cleaner/tumbler, lube pad, a RCBS 5.56 die set, and a Lee Case Trimmer. Any one have any tips on reloading these calibers, or could point me in a direction (beside Midway...ect) for very low cost but high value equipment. Whats the best reloading data book? I've done a lot of reading on it, but haven't had much time on it lately.

ABC's of Reloading is a good book to start with. Also, reloading manuals from Lee, Lyman, Hornady, Sierra, etc. offer great information. I also compare the data listed in the manuals to the what is listed on the powder manufacurture's web page.

As for reloading the 5.56 (can use .223 data), either spherical "ball" or extruded "stick" powder will work fine however; you will find ball powder will meter well and flow easily into the small case mouth. As for the brass, if using mil surplus, you will need to remove the primer crimp and may require a different load/charge compared to commercial brass.

Best way is to know somebody and talk to them. There's a guy at bass pro near my house that I talked to and he helped out a lot. I have an ribs rock chucker.
basics tools necessary though are:
Reloading press
manual. I use nobler and Speer
dies
Powder, I recommend a large selection. Never know what power the gun will like best
bullets
primers brass
calipers
scale. Electric is better
case lube I use Hornady hot shot
