A round of applause for EM/VAGT member and OCDO owner John Pierce, who has been working his rear end off for weeks now to get VCDL moved onto it’s new web site (still in progress) and now has the 2016 Legislative Tracking Tool up and running (link below)!
With the tool you can track all the pro-gun legislation in the General Assembly, including VCDL’s comments on each bill, if the bill is supported or opposed by VCDL, and the bill’s history as it moves through the General Assembly.

Special thanks to the following legislators for putting in bills on VCDL’s behalf (current bills, more to come):
Delegate Lee Ware, HB 12, recognizes permits from all states
Delegate Dave LaRock, HB 260, requires the chief law-enforcement officer in an area to sign off on a Form 4 (Class III weapons) application
Delegate Dave LaRock, HB 273, removes the requirement for a second form of ID when purchasing a firearm
Delegate Scott Lingamfelter, HB 560, improves the brandishing law
Delegate Scott Lingamfelter, HB 563, gives FFLs standing to sue any locality (such as Fredericksburg) which illegally destroys firearms received from a gun buy-up
Thanks also to the following legislator for introducing a bill that VCDL helped craft:
Senator Dick Black, SB 48, Constitutional Carry
There are lots of good bills, besides those introduced on VCDL’s behalf:
* State Agency preemption
* State agencies cannot prohibit carry
* Legal protections if a person declares a lost or stolen firearm in a timely manner
* Prohibition on state or local government employees helping enforce any federal gun laws or Executive Orders made after 12/1/2015
* Virginia CHP holder information only shared with states that honor Virginia CHPs
BAD BILLS
There are also a lot of really BAD bills:
* Universal Background Checks
* Mandatory gun purchase permit
* Magazine ban
* No CHPs or guns for anyone on the “Terrorist Screening Database”
* A judge is able to order gun confiscations without the person getting to have a defense
* Certain misdemeanors take away gun rights
* Ban on guns in the General Assembly and Capitol buildings and grounds
* No gun stores within a 1,000 feet of a school
* School gun-free zone that extends 1,000 feet for open carriers
* No loaded openly carried firearms, including handguns
* Severe restrictions on what training courses qualify to get a CHP
* Confiscation for a protective order
* Restrictions on what age a child can shoot a gun
* Family member can prevent a person from getting a CHP
* One gun a month limitation
